President Peter MacKinnon
President MacKinnon will step down from his role as president of the University of Saskatchewan as of June 30, 2012, but his legacy will remain. The success of the U of S under President MacKinnon was trumped only by his ambitions for the university, which continue to set our course moving forward.
With President MacKinnon as our president, the U of S has grown in many ways. We are welcoming more students from more places around the world, we are physically expanding to accommodate the important research, learning and discovery taking place on our campus, and we are building deeper connections with the communities around Saskatchewan and beyond. We move forward from President MacKinnon's tenure more proud of our accomplishments, with bigger dreams for the future and confident that we can achieve anything we aspire towards.

"Dear Dr. MacKinnon, Thank you for doing an amazing job at the U of S. Being a first year university student can be an intimidating thing, but you did an excellent job welcoming us to the campus and making us feel as though we belong. I remember coming to your residence for the President's Grey Stone Scholars reception, and you personally welcoming me to not only your house, but the university as a whole. Later on you sat down with me and had a one on one conversation, not as the president, just as a regular person. That was one of the nicest things someone has done to me during my university experience. And while there is a 99.9% chance that you wouldn't remember me if we ran into each other around campus, the fact that you spent the time one on one, means a lot. So thank you very much for that experience I will never forget, it has inspired me greatly. Good luck with your future endeavours, whatever they may be, I hope that God brings you success and happiness in them. You will be missed here at the U of S. Jared Komaike "

"Dear President Peter MacKinon: Thank you for doing such an admirable job as president in working with the big picture issues most of which I can hardly name much less understand. Your peers and colleagues at that level are recognizing your outstanding abilities and accomplishments. I join with others in the university community, who have supporting roles, in thanking you for the excellent job you have done in caring about individuals and respecting their opinions. I remember talking with two members of your staff in the College of Law before you started your term as president. They were definitely for you reflecting the respect that you had for them. Thank you for taking the time for all those one on one meetings, the depth of your insight and your sense of fairness. It has been very good to be on your team all this time. May God bless you as you move to other priorities. Rick Sawatzky "

"Peter: Thanks for all you have done for both Barry and I , I can't thank you enough When Aron Wienberger died and I was just beside myself with grief I wrote you a letter and I am so thankful that you replied, his family did get his degree and that meant so much to them, especially since he was the only one to go to University in his family. I also want to thank you for the rock n roll dance in the bowl that time and also Barry and I would like to thank you and Janice for always being so kind to us! We wish you both nothing but the best in your future Hugs Dee"
